Virgil Abloh Passes Away at Age 41

Last Sunday, November 28, word came out about the passing of designer and cultural phenomenon Virgil Abloh. Virgil Abloh started off in the fashion world as an intern at Fendi, where he met world-class rapper Kanye West. The two started collaborating right after their initial meeting and the rest is history. Virgil Abloh was also the founder of streetwear brand Pyrex, which eventually became Off-White. Everyone may remember the yellow construction belts, as well as the large crosses on the back of t-shirts, hoodies and flannels.

He truly established his name in the fashion world with Nike: The Ten. This collection consisted of 10 iconic Nike silhouettes and . This collection also gave us the iconic quotation marks that Virgil became known for. After this collection, Virgil and Nike have worked together on many different Nike models that are recognized by almost everyone.

He also became the first African-American head designer at the high fashion label Louis Vuitton, for which he has produced numerous collections.

The world has lost a great creative mind with his passing, but his signature on the fashion world is undeniable and will live on for generations.
